Four-star defensive tackle Mike Williams released some big news on Saturday night

And it's not great news for the Longhorns.

There was some concern by some out West that four-star defensive tackle Mike Williams might not gain admittance to Stanford, a school for which he's been committed to since July 3, 2015.

Well, Cardinal fans can rest easy as far as that is concerned based on the tweet below by Williams himself:

Now, for those Longhorns fans that want to overanalyze those 140 characters [or fewer] you might say, "Yeah, well, he didn't say that he was sticking with the Cardinal or that he was done with his recruitment."

Sure, he didn't. But it's hard to imagine that he'd back off of his verbal pledge this late in the process when he's cleared the one, remaining hurdle he had to officially becoming a Cardinal.

Williams did tell HD earlier this week that he would visit Texas the weekend of January 23. Whether he'll still take that visit or not remains to be seen.

If he does, then you'd have to say that Texas still has a chance. If he cancels it, well...

The Longhorns are still in contention for the commitments of defensive tackles D'Andre Christmas-Giles and Stephon Taylor, and, to a lesser degree, Marcel Southall and OU commitment Chris Daniels. In other words, there's still a lot to be figured out at perhaps the biggest position of need for UT in 2016. Right now, Texas only has one commitment at the position in Gerald Wilbon.
