Catching up with Dobbins

2017 four-star athlete J.K. Dobbins is the No. 1 rated athlete in Texas and has garnered plenty of attention.

The 5-foot-9, 184-pound athlete from La Grange said his recruitment has been pretty good so far and there’s one school that’s been reaching out to him the most.  Dobbins said he’s heard the most from Oklahoma during his recruitment. He said he likes the Sooners.

“[Oklahoma has been telling me] just that they love me not just as an athlete but as a person and they want me there,” Dobbins said. “I like Oklahoma. I like the campus, and the town’s atmosphere and the coaches.”

He added that he plans to visit the Sooners during the spring. Dobbins said he currently plans to visit one other school during the spring – Stanford. Dobbins said there are multiple things he likes about the Cardinal.

“[I like their] academics and the way they use their [running] backs,” Dobbins said. “I haven’t been up there yet so those are the only things right now.”

Dobbins said he hasn’t heard from Texas lately.

Dobbins, the No. 55 rated recruit in the Scout 300, ran for 2,291 yards and 29 touchdowns during his junior season. Dobbins and the La Grange Leopards finished the season at 7-4. He said he has bigger plans for his senior season.

“[My] junior season went great but we lost four games and that’s not acceptable,” Dobbins said. “My senior season, I want to win a state championship.”

He also said he plans to attend the Rivals camp during the spring and the Nike Opening regional if he’s invited.

Dobbins holds offers from Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, Texas A&M, Houston, SMU, Stanford and a few other schools.
