The Longhorns are undefeated and a legit contender for the national championship

The Longhorns are 15-0 overall and 4-0 in Big 12 play.

Karen Aston's program is rolling right now.

The Longhorns, ranked No. 4 in the country, are beating teams by 22.4 points per game, are third in the Big 12 in scoring offense (75 ppg) and second in scoring defense (52.6).

But what makes this team so special is its depth. Texas had 12 players score in its route of Oklahoma State over the weekend.

The Longhorns only have two players in the top 30 in the Big 12 when it comes to points per game: Imani Boyette is 13th averaging 12.7 ppg and Brooke McCarty is 18th averaging 11.3 ppg. They get it done in so many different ways.

And it doesn't look like things will be slowing down for the Horns anytime soon. They have two of the top players in the country coming in as part of their three-person 2016 recruiting class in five stars Joyner Holmes [quite possibly the best player in the country] and point guard Alecia Sutton.

This is a critical week for Texas as it goes to Kansas on Wednesday before coming back for a HUGE showdown with Baylor on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Austin.

AUSTIN, Texas — Senior Texas center Imani Boyette has been named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the Big 12 office in Irving, Texas, announced Monday. The honor was determined by a vote of a media panel that covers the conference.

Boyette averaged 11.5 points per game and 14.0 rebounds per game with 5.5 blocks per game this past week to lead Texas to a win against Iowa State and a road victory at Oklahoma State. She helped the Longhorns improve their Big 12 Conference record to 4-0 and their overall record to 15.0. Texas is off to the third-best start in program history.

Boyette tallied a pair of double-doubles this week and is the only player in the league to have recorded a double-double in all four conference games in which she has played.

Boyette scored 11 points and brought down a game-high 17 rebounds to complement a season-best seven blocks in 27 minutes of action in Texas’ 75-54 win against Iowa State on Wednesday. Her seven blocks were the most by any Big 12 Conference player in a league game this season.

At Oklahoma State on Saturday, Boyette scored 12 points and brought down a team-high 11 rebounds to go with four blocks in the Longhorns’ 78-48 win at Oklahoma State on Saturday. She shot 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from the field against the Cowgirls.

Boyette and Texas return to action on Wednesday when the Longhorns travel to to Kansas. Tip-off in Allen Fieldhouse is slated for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
