After a big recruiting weekend, the Longhorns have another top prospect making a stop in Austin.
Silsbee OL Patrick Hudson arrived Tuesday afternoon and is currently on campus with the Texas staff.
Hudson is the nation's No. 68 overall prospect and is one of the most notable recruits in the 2016 class. Scout.com ranks him as the No. 1 guard in the state of Texas, but he has the versatility to play both guard and tackle at the next level.
At 6-5, 330-pounds, Hudson has great push and moves the line of scrimmage. What makes him truly special is his quick feet and ability to cover ground. His skillset is what coaches dream of finding in offensive linemen and is what separates him from his competition.
A 4-star prospect, Hudson has been verbally committed to Baylor since July 2014, but Texas has continued to pursue the talented big man.
A couple of weeks ago, Hudson told me he is currently committed to the Bears, but still remains interested in the Longhorns. At the time, he had neither spoken with offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert nor offensive line coach Matt Mattox since their hiring in early December.
Getting Hudson on campus for an official visit is a step in the right direction for Texas. The one-on-one time he has with the coaching staff could play a significant role in the Longhorns pursuit for one of the nation's top offensive line prospects in 2016.
