HornsDigest breaks down the remaining targets for the Longhorns with national signing day around the corner on Feb. 3

Here's the latest on four-star safety Chris Brown.

The Latest: Chris Brown spent the weekend in Austin on an unofficial visit with teammate Dontavious Jackson. He took an official visit to Texas on Jan. 22. He did take an official to Florida on Jan. 15. and then to Michigan on Nov. 28. But all signs point to the Longhorns being the favorite at this point in time.

Teams in Contention: Texas, Florida, Michigan.

When he'll announce: Brown will announce on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. on ESPNU along with Jackson.

Evaluation

Brown is a well-rounded defensive back who is scheme- and potentially position-versatile. Violent hitter. Aggressively patrols the secondary. Crashes downhill vs. run and screen game to deliver frequent big hits. Shows ability to become a great blitzer. Can be over-aggressive at times to hurt tackling/coverage technique, but never a lack of effort/intensity. Experience playing S and CB w/big upside as possible hybrid nickel player. -G. Brooks
