HornsDigest breaks down the remaining targets for the Longhorns with national signing day around the corner on Feb. 3

Here's the latest on four-star linebacker Dontavious Jackson.

The latest: Dontavious Jackson spent the weekend in Austin on an unofficial visit to Texas along with his teammate, and fellow Longhorns target, Chris Brown. Prior to that, he took an OV to Alabama on Jan. 22 and then to Florida on Jan. 15. He took his OV to Michigan on Nov. 28 and to Florida State on Oct. 10.

Schools in contention: Texas, Florida State, Florida, Alabama, Michigan.

Trending: Close between Texas and Florida State.

When he'll announce: Jackson will announce during the 9 a.m. CT hour on ESPNU on NSD. He's scheduled to announce after Deontay Anderson.

Jackson is a true middle linebacker and brings to the table the skills you are looking for at the position. He's a pretty physical player and has good size to stand up to down to down punishment in the middle of a defense. He diagnoses the play quickly and is tough to block. He gets downhill quickly, showing great vertical quickness to get to ball carriers. He is at his best against the run. He runs through tackles and is a sure finisher. - GP
