Sources: Texas A&M Attempting to Lure Texas Defensive Line Coach Brick Haley Away from the Longhorns

Texas A&M has interest in Texas defensive line coach Brick Haley, sources told HornsDigest Friday.

Reports surfaced Friday claiming Texas A&M has plans to approach Texas defensive line coach Brick Haley about joining the Aggies staff, first reported by the Austin American Statesman.

I reached out to sources at Texas and Texas A&M to get details from both sides of the situation.

A source close to Texas A&M confirmed the reports, and claimed the Aggie staff is interested in hiring Haley to fill their defensive line coaching vacancy, which would reunite Haley with his longtime colleague, Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis.

However, the Longhorns believe the interest to be one-sided and do not anticipate Haley leaving Austin at this point, according to sources close to Texas.

This is not the first time Chavis has attempted to get Haley on his staff at Texas A&M. Chavis had plans to bring his former assistant with him when he was hired by the Aggies in January 2015, but a buyout issue in his then contract with LSU prevented Haley from making the move to College Station, sources told Horns Digest.

Haley is scheduled to speak at the Lone Star Coaching Clinic in College Station Saturday at 4:30 pm CT.

These situations can change on a minute-by-minute basis, and we will update you with any additional information we receive regarding this situation.
