If you don't already know the name Grayson Reed, you will soon enough.
Odds are, you've heard of him though. He's big-time.
Reed is already one of the most wanted recruits in the Lone Star State with an offers list that includes the Longhorns, Baylor, Florida, Oklahoma, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Boise State, Boston College, Cal, Colorado, Illinois, and North Texas.
The Longhorns offered him back on Nov. 10, 2015, which was welcomed news to Reed's cousin, former UT DE Cedric Reed.
So where do the Longhorns fit in the pecking order for the four-star OT? Pretty high on the list, according to what Reed's father, Terrence Reed, told HD.
Terrence Reed, who would prefer to keep the spotlight on his son throughout this process, tells us that the Longhorns are sitting in a good position with his son right now after what he saw UT do on national signing day. The elder Reed also said that his son has a good relationship with Texas offensive line coach Matt Mattox.
The Longhorns are definitely one of Reed's favorites, and a school that will likely be in the mix until the end. But right now Reed is entirely wide open, though, he hopes to get a much better feel for Charlie Strong's program when he travels to Austin for Texas' Junior Day later this month.
Here's what Reed told HD shortly after picking up his UT offer:
“I am a big fan of Charlie Strong. I like the fact that he's a competitor; I like his drive to be the best and to push his athletes to be the best! Most importantly he cares about his players as young men and teaches them to be leaders! I've been a Longhorn fan since I was a kid. I think the Longhorns are a competitive big time team that will also show up to compete!”
