Four-Star Florida Safety Offered By Horns

The Longhorns struck gold in 2016 with the commitment of five-star safety Brandon Jones.

They're hoping that history will repeat itself in the form of another major safety commitment in 2017. Someone like four-star Daniel Wright perhaps.

Wright, the No. 10 safety in the country and No. 142 player overall in 2017, recently picked up an offer from Charlie Strong's program. He is the brother of Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Major Wright.

Right now it looks like Texas has some work to do to get Wright down to Austin. Florida State and LSU are the teams to beat at this point with Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State and others in the mix as well.

Wright is a safety who plays the ball and the defender. In run support, Wright flies up to the box and sticks the opponent. When the ball is in the air, he has shown the ability to make the play on it or to strike the opponent. He has good length, but needs to fill out his frame and add weight. His ball skills are good and he shows explosion when going up to high-point the ball. Does not shy away from contact. Plays aggressive, but under control. Very good playing speed. Can improve his coverage skills.
