Levi Jones Talking Texas

Outside linebacker Levi Jones has double-digit offers from such schools as Baylor, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas and USC to name a few. The Austin (Texas) Westlake standout is very familiar with Texas linebacker coach Brian Jean-Mary.

Levi Jones plays with high energy.  He has aggressiveness, tremendous athletic ability and understands how to get after the quarterback.  Jones is looking forward to making another run deep in the high school playoff.

“I’m looking forward to getting back out on the field with my brothers and just making another run for the state title and finishing this time,” Levi Jones said.

Jones is one of six linebackers with an offer from the Texas Longhorns.  He joins Dylan Moses, Anthony Hines, Baron Browning, Tyler Taylor and Christopher Allen as the only linebackers with offers from Charlie Strong and company at this time.  Jones has a pretty good relationship with linebacker coach Brian Jean-Mary and is a teammate of current Texas verbal commitment Sam Ehlinger.

“I feel like my relationship with the Texas coaches is pretty solid,” Jones said. “Coach Brian Luc Jean-Mary reaches out to me a lot; I really like him a lot he's funny and seems like a great coach. From what I've been told from some active linebackers, they all like him and love playing for him.”

Scout.com Take

Jones is a player who rose through the recruit ranks powered behind a strong junior year. He made a ton of plays as Austin Westlake made a deep march into the playoffs. He is always around the football and is physically a dominant force. He forces the action, making a good amount of plays behind the line of scrimmage and shows bursts of speed in the open field allowing him to chase down plays from sideline-to-sideline. He is long and lean and has the frame to be an, even more, impressive specimen as he matures. The brother of Cayleb Jones, who was also a Scout 300 prospect. - Greg Powers
