Culbreth helps Texas Even Series With Tulane

When Texas went down 3-0 to Tulane in the top of the first inning Saturday after losing a weather-delayed Game 1 earlier in the day, it didn't look good for Longhorn Nation. But pitcher Ty Culbreth settled down, and the brothers Clemens took care of business at the plate in a 10-3 win.

That's right, Ty Culbreth got the win as the Longhorns (8-11) rallied with 10 unanswered runs to even the series with Tulane at 1-1.

Blake Wellmann threw three brilliant innings of 1-hit relief to help seal the deal.

After giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits (a double and three singles with a balk) in the top of the first inning, Culbreth was lights out.

Culbreth (3-2) gave up just four hits over the next five, shutout innings and finished with 8 Ks and 2 walks.

Blake Wellman got the save, giving up just 1 hit in three innings of relief with 2 Ks and 1 walk.

Kody and Kacy Clemens, batting 5th and 6th in the lineup, respectively, both went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Kody finished with 2 RBIs and Kacy had 3 RBIs.

Texas erased the 3-0 deficit in the first with 3 runs in the second, 4 runs in the third and 3 runs in the sixth.

NEXT UP: ... Texas (8-11)  and Tulane (12-7) settle the 1-1 series at 12 pm CT on Sunday.
