SERIES NOTES

A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS—Last weekend, Texas dropped two of three to visiting Tulane at UFCU Disch-Falk Field…after play on Friday night was suspended tied 1-1 after two innings, the game resumed on Saturday afternoon and the Longhorns ultimately fell 3-2…in the second game on Saturday, UT’s offense erupted for 10 runs in the win…it was Ty Culbreth’s fourth straight quality start…Tulane put up 5 runs on Texas on Sunday, leading to a 5-3 Longhorn defeat…last Tuesday, the Longhorns fell 5-4 to then No. 3 Texas A&M after rallying with 4 runs in the ninth to tie the game.

A LOOK AT THE ROADRUNNERS—UTSA is coming off a series loss to Rice in its first Conference USA matchup…UTSA fell 9-4 in game one and 1-0 in game three, but took the middle game 6-1 over the Owls…the Roadrunners have dropped five of seven on their seven-game homestand…UTSA’s offense is led by sophomore Skyler Valentine, who is hitting .342 with 2 homers and 17 RBI.

UNDER PRESSURE—Freshman Kody Clemens is now batting .351 (13-for-37) with runners on base and is 2 for 5 with the bases loaded…he’s 10-for-21 (.476) with runners in scoring position and 8-for-24 (.333) with 8 RBI with two outs in the inning.

KACY ON BASE—After failing to reach base in the season opener, Kacy Clemens reached safely in his next 16 games before failing to reach on Sunday vs. Tulane… Travis Jones  is riding a streak of 14 straight games in which he’s reached safely while Kody Clemens has reached safely in 9 in a row.

BASES JUICED—The Longhorns are now 12-for-22 (.545) with the bases loaded on the season…both Kacy Clemens and Zane Gurwitz are 2-for-2 with the bags full and Bret Boswell is 2-for-3 on the year.…Tres Barrera, Jake McKenzie and Tyler Rand each have hits in their only bases-loaded at-bats.

OUTHIT ‘EM—Texas outhit Tulane in each of the three games this past weekend but came out with just one win…on the year, the Longhorns have outhit their opponent in 14 of 20 games but are just 8-6 in those games.

SCORE MORE—When scoring at least 5 runs in the game, the Longhorns are 7-1…UT is just 1-11 when scoring less than 5.

With Texas not starting Morgan Cooper on Tuesday, we can assume he will be pitching this weekend against TCU. Who will come out of the rotation you ask?

I would say it’s between Kyle Johnston and Connor Mayes and whomever it is will most likely move to the closer role.
