Texas Longhorns Spring Football: The Latest with the Quarterbacks

Chip Brown and Taylor Gaspar discuss the direction of the Texas quarterback position and who has been making waves throughout the first half of spring football.

It wouldn't be an offseason without talk about the direction of the Longhorns quarterback position. Texas has struggled to find a long-term answer to its QB woes since Colt McCoy graduated ... following the 2009 season.

But for the first time in a while, the Longhorns have a decent number of bodies in the quarterback room, and all are attempting to make a case for themselves during spring football practice.

Texas had its first full pad practice of the spring over the weekend, and all eyes were on the quarterback position.

A lot of the chatter has been predominantly centered around senior Tyrone Swoopes and early enrollee freshman Shane Buechele.

Buechele is quickly becoming one of the more hyped QBs of the bunch and had a solid performance over the weekend.

The most veteran QB of the group, Swoopes has been showing poise in his role with the team, but the skeptics out there will question if he can be more than simply a solid practice quarterback.

So where does redshirt sophomore Jerrod Heard fit into the mix? If Buechele continues to progress, will Heard, Kai Locksley and/or Matthew Merrick contemplate transferring?

Watch this video to hear the latest involving the Longhorns QBs.
