Last year, Shaka Smart's welcome to coaching Texas was a road trip halfway around the world for a season opener as the "other" team in Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott's Globalization Initiative against Washington in Beijing.

Thank you Steve Patterson.
I'm perfectly confident in saying Smart and Co. are MUCH happier going to the Legends Classic at Barclays Center in Brooklyn Nov. 21-22 with Notre Dame, Colorado and Northwestern - not that the Longhorns will ever forget spending eight days in China as part of a Pac-12/Beijing infomercial hosted by Bill Walton!
And I have confirmed Texas hoops is finalizing a home-and-home with Alabama that would start with the Crimson Tide visiting Austin Dec. 2 to face the Longhorns.
The return game in Tuscaloosa would be in December 2017 or early January 2018, a source told HornsDigest.
Here are the details on the Legends Classic at Barclays Center in Brooklyn Nov. 21-22:
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, April 2 at 11 am CT for the Championship Rounds of the 10th annual Legends Classic men’s basketball tournament.
Tickets may be purchased by calling TicketMaster at 800-745-3000 or through Ticketmaster.com. Tickets also are available at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center.
Texas, Notre Dame, Colorado and Northwestern will each host a pair of regional round games on campus before facing off at Barclays Center in the Championship Rounds on Nov. 21-22. Joining the four host schools in the 2016 Legends Classic field are Eastern Washington, Bryant, Louisiana Monroe and Seattle.
All four games of the Championship Rounds will be televised on ESPN networks. Matchups for the Championship Rounds, television details and the entire bracket for the 2016 Legends Classic will be announced at a later date.
