Talked to a few folks who were inside Tuesday's practice, and here's what they told me:

* Shane Buechele and Tyrone Swoopes both had a lot of good moments, but the defense made a bunch of plays, too, including two INTs by S DeShon Elliott, who got a lot of reps with the first team along with S Kevin Vaccaro.

* Poona Ford, who has been utterly disruptive all spring, had back-to-back sacks on consecutive plays in 11-on-11.

* Naashon Hughes ran first team Fox End. Breckyn Hager ran second-team Fox End.

* Charles Omenihu ran first-team SDE with Quincy Vasser backing him up. Bryce Cottrell did not practice Tuesday with what I was told was "a minor injury."

* Apparently S Jason Hall has been bothered by an ankle injury, and did not practice Tuesday.

* Dylan Haines was dressed out, but did not participate in team drills because of the laceration on his leg that required stitches to close.

* QB Jerrod Heard and RB Kirk Johnson were in the pit.

* LBs Malik Jefferson and Anthony Wheeler got a lot of run at first-team linebacker in nickel situations.

* Tim Cole and Ed Freeman were the second-team LBs in nickel.

* Demarco Boyd and Cam Townsend were the third-team LBs in nickel.

* It's hard to give the nod to the better battle of spring football: WR John Burt vs CB DaVante Davis or WR Collin Johnson vs CB Holton Hill. One source said those two battles have been the highlights of spring ball.

* First-team offensive line was: LT Connor Williams, LG Brandon Hodges, C Zach Shackelford, RG Patrick Vahe, RT Kent Perkins

* Second-team OL: LT Garrett Thomas, LG Walk-on, C Elijah Rodriguez, RG Terrell Cuney, RT Tristan Nickelson

* Third-team OL: LT Elijah Rodriguez, LG Walk-on, C Garret Graf, RG Terrell Cuney, RT Tristan Nickelson (Not sure where Buck Major was Tuesday.)

* Sheroid Evans and Antwuan Davis alternated as the backup LCB behind DaVante Davis

* Kris Boyd was the backup to Holton Hill at RCB

* P.J. Locke, who has had a really good spring at nickel back, was backed up by John Bonney.

* Mitchell Becker remains the first-team FG kicker.

* 2017 DT recruit Marvin Wilson attended and watched all of Tuesday's practice  - as did 2017 Texas QB commit Sam Ehlinger.

* The first-team DTs Tuesday were NT Poona Ford and DT Chris Nelson - although NT Paul Boyette also got reps with the first team lined up next to DT Chris Nelson.
