1. Joe Baker has been cleared for all baseball activities after being out since March 19 with a stress fracture in his foot/ankle area. Coach Garrido mentioned that Baker could be limited to just 2B because of the nerve issue he has dealt with all season.
If Baker was to come back this weekend, I would be interested to see where Baker would play. First thought would be to keep the infield defense the same it has been since Baker went down, which is Kacy Clemens at 1B; Zane Gurwitz at 2B; Kody Clemens at SS; and Tres Barrera at 3B, and have Baker be the DH since that spot hasn’t been solidified.
2. With the series now moving to a Friday doubleheader and Saturday, the pitching rotation is going to be shaken up. I would have to think that the rotation will stay the same with Morgan Cooper in Game 1, Ty Culbreth in Game 2, and Kyle Johnston in Game 3. It makes the most sense to keep the rotation the same, just moving Culbreth and Johnston up a day from Saturday and Sunday.
3. If Texas is to continue their offense output from last weekend, they are going to need the 3-4-5 of Kacy Clemens, Tres Barrera, and Patrick Mathis to have continuous quality at-bats but for them to be able to be the run producers, they're going to need the top of the lineup of Kody Clemens and Travis Jones to continue their on-base production.
4. With Coach Garrido saying that they are going to be moving Connor Mayes back into a role that is more comfortable to him, expect to see a combination of Josh Sawyer and Chase Shugart closing out games depending on who is coming up for the opponents in the 8th and 9th.
