Texas basketball coach Shaka Smart made an in-home visit with 2016 5-star big man Jarrett Allen of Austin St. Stephen's Monday, a source close to the situation told HornsDigest.com.

The source said Kansas coach Bill Self is expected to make an in-home visit with Allen on Tuesday. KU already has 6-10, 275-pound 4-star C Udoka Azubuike in its 2016 class along with 5-star SF Josh Jackson, Scout's No. 2 overall player in the 2016 class.

The battle for Jarrett Allen appeared to be between Texas and Houston when the spring signing period (April 13 - May 18) began. But Kansas is absolutely in the mix, said the source, who thinks it's a Texas-Kansas battle now and put the Horns' chances of landing Allen as of Monday at "50-50."

Allen is Texas' top remaining 2016 target after signing 5-star point guard Andrew Jones, 4-star big man James Banks and 4-star shooting guard Jacob Young in the 2016 class.

Texas has also signed Tulane transfer PF Dylan Osetkowski (6-8, 245), who averaged 11.4 ppg and 8.4 rpg last season. Osetkowski will have two years of eligibility after sitting out a year.

Even though Allen seemed to be telling those around him he didn't want to play far from home and felt most comfortable at Texas, Allen has been incredibly hard to read late in the recruiting process, the source told HD.

Texas flirted with 4-star 2016 PF Clevon Brown of San Antonio Churchill, who initially signed with Vanderbilt but looked around after coach Kevin Stallings left Vandy for Pitt. Brown, however, has decided to stay at Vandy, two sources told HD.
