Big-Time CB Plans to Visit Texas

The Texas staff is on the road checking out some of the nation's top prospects in the 2017 recruiting class.

Texas defensive backs coach Clay Jennings dropped in on Scout 300 CB Kary Vincent, Jr. earlier this week. Jennings told Vincent's high school coach that the Longhorns are very interested in him and would like for him to visit Texas soon.

And it appears that will in fact happen.

Vincent Jr. told me he plans to take an unofficial visit to Texas this June.

A four-star prospect and son of former Texas A&M WR Kary Vincent Sr., Scout ranks Vincent Jr. at No. 136 nationally and the No. 16 cornerback prospect in 2017. Analysis:

Vincent Jr. is a dynamic athlete with playmaking ability from his cornerback spot or in the return game. Sudden athleticism in both short-area burst and agility, as well as top-end speed. Turns and runs with receivers well. Great acceleration from a dead stop. Also possesses coveted trait of accelerating even more while already in flight. Excellent closing speed aided by ability to anticipate the ball. Dangerous in the return game because of aforementioned athletic traits and sudden cutback ability. Will need to build bulk and strength to prepare for next level, but a promising, high major-caliber cornerback talent with plenty of potential. - Gabe Brooks
