Four-Star Local Standout Levi Jones Talks Texas Longhorns

Charlie Strong and the rest of the Texas staff are looking for linebackers in 2017. One such player, Levi Jones checks in from Austin (Texas) Westlake. The four-star standout holds over a dozen offers at this time.

LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, UCLA and USC are just a few teams to extend a verbal offer to outside linebacker, Levi Jones.  He checks in at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds.  Jones is very familiar with Charlie Strong.

“I have learned that he loves his players and takes care of them,” Levi Jones said. “He is a father figure to them as well. There is a lot of good things about the Texas program, but one of them is that the bond between the players is very strong.”

Jones is ranked as the No 172 ranked player in 2017.  He is the No 13 ranked outside linebacker in the country and the No 2 ranked OLB in the state of Texas.

Scout.com Take

Jones is a player who rose through the recruit ranks powered behind a strong junior year. He made a ton of plays as Austin Westlake made a deep march into the playoffs. He is always around the football and is physically a dominant force. He forces the action, making a good amount of plays behind the line of scrimmage and shows bursts of speed in the open field allowing him to chase down plays from sideline-to-sideline. He is long and lean and has the frame to be an even more impressive specimen as he matures. The brother of Cayleb Jones, who was also a Scout 300 prospect. - Greg Powers
