Three-Star OLB Kenneth Murray Offered by Texas

Head coach Charlie Strong and linebacker coach Brian Jean-Mary are in search of three for the class of 2017. The Longhorns extended their 7th verbal scholarship offer yesterday to Missouri City (Texas) Ft. Bend Elkins standout Kenneth Murray.

Outside linebacker Kenneth Murray has exploded on the recruiting scene.  The 6-foot-2, 215-pound three-star linebacker holds offers from Baylor, California, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Houston, Illinois, Indiana and now Texas.

Murray joins Dylan Moses, Anthony Hines, Baron Browning, Levi Jones, Tyler Taylor and Christopher Allen on the linebacker board.  He had a chance to speak with the entire staff about the offer.

“They are great coaches, just got off the phone with the whole staff and they are all great,” Kenneth Murray said.  “It’s a huge offer and I am blessed that God gave it to me.”

Murray is very impressive and brings a lot to the table.

“Strengths are I play football with a mean mentality,” Murray said.  “My ability to play safety and linebacker at my size is my biggest strength and even some defensive end.  I’m just relentless and wont stop until the tackle is made.  I want to improve on making sure I continue to be a vocal leader for my team.”

My Take:

Murray has not made his summer schedule, but Texas fans will see him in Austin.  He has made multiple trips to Austin over the last 24-months and should continue to visit the Longhorns.  This is a big offer for Murray and has been in the making for a while now.  I am expecting to see Murray make at least three more trips to Texas for camp, unofficial game weekend and official visit after the season.  If Texas can get those trips moving forward they will be in a great position to land the most underrated player in the state of Texas.  Do not let the ranking fool you Texas fans.  Kenneth Murray could pick up the phone right now and pull the trigger to the Longhorns.
