Hezekiah Jones checks in from Stafford (Texas) at 5-foot-11, 185-pounds. The four-star standout plans to visit as many as seven schools this summer.
“Auburn, Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas, Cal Berkley and Stanford,” Hezekiah Jones said.
Jones has five schools that keep in touch with him on a regular basis.
“Notre Dame, Baylor, Oregon, Michigan State and Alabama,” Jones said.
Why is Jones one of the most heavily recruited players in the class of 2017?
“Do the extra stuff when you’re bored instead of playing games,” Jones said. “It helped me a lot. I watch a lot of videos of college/pro players and try and do what they do.”
Jones gets off the line quickly and puts defensive backs at an immediate disadvantage. Sometimes he just blows right by the corner and all his quarterback needs to do is lay the ball into his hands. He has good hands and concentration and is very explosive in tight windows. He can accelerate quickly and will get open. Will be interesting to see how he will be used once he gets into college because the slot would suit him very well, and that could be how he projects, but he is a receiver who could also play some on the outside. As a sophomore, his team used him in a variety of unique ways to get his hands on the football, and that is the way we think he will be best used once he gets to college.
Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida, Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma State, TCU, UCLA, Baylor, Colorado, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, SMU, Texas State, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt.
As a junior, Jones collected 35 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns to earn 12-4A first team All-District honors. Jones had a breakout sophomore season with 28 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns on 19.7 yards per catch.
