Four-Star ILB Talks Longhorns

Standout inside linebacker Alston Orji checks in from Rockwall (Texas) at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds. The four-star 2018 prospect holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and now the Texas Longhorns.

Charlie Strong, Brian Jean-Mary, Vance Bedford and the rest of the Texas Longhorns coaching staff had a chance to watch the talented defender work during a recent satellite camp held in Dallas.

“The Texas coaching staff was excellent today at the camp,” Alston Orji said.  “Every drill and all the work we did are things I can take back to my team.  I feel like I did well fighting through injury and finishing on plays.  I need to work on my speed and hip flexibility when covering backs and tight ends.”

Orji was able to spend time with both Charlie Strong and Brian Jean-Mary.

“Coach Strong and Coach BJ both commended me on my ability to play through my tight hip flexor injury and told me to stay in touch,” Orji said.

Orji will put recruiting on the back burner for a bigger cause.

“I actually have a mission trip to Nigeria and don’t have any recruiting plans for a while,” Orji said.
