J.P. Urquidez Says Yes to Texas

The Texas Longhorns added yet another piece of the puzzle when moments ago offensive tackle J.P. Urquidez made his intentions known to join the Longhorn Nation. The four-star tackle checks in at 6-foot-5 ½, 295-pounds from Copperas Cove (Texas)

J.P Urquidez gives new meaning to the phrase, “Hard works pays off,” as he has transformed his body over the last 18 months into exactly what college coaches are looking for in a prospect. When you think of hard work you think of J.P. Urquidez

He held offers from some of the nation’s elite programs such as Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns.

Urquidez has been giving a second chance and couldn’t be happier for the opportunity to join the Texas football program.  He bolsters an incredible incoming offensive line for Charlie Strong and company.

Scout.com Take

We like his versatility, frame, and upside. He looks like a prototype right tackle type of prospect, but he also can pack on more weight and strength and move inside possibly once he gets to college. He has a high ceiling because he will get stronger and even more dominant once he gets in the college strength and conditioning program. He has bounced around from Texas to Maryland and back, but has always been consistently good. – Greg Powers
