Greg Powers caught up with K'Lavon Chaisson at The Opening. The four-star defensive end released his Top 10 last week, and the Longhorns made it in at No. 10.
After offering him late, Chaisson said Texas is on the rise and he's getting to know the Longhorns coaches better.
"They are coming up. They offered real late, but they are starting to come up. I am starting to get familiar with the coaches now. I am starting to talk more to coach (Charlie) Strong. They are good in defense and good in the business and academic situation that I want to go into."
Evaluation: Chaisson has what we like to describe as a very high motor and is a player who can get after the quarterback early and and then he will do it often. We like that he stepped up on the big stage to help his team win a state title, earning defensive MVP honors in the contest and making a play inside the 10-yard line to secure the win. Big players make big plays on the big stages. He has great speed rush abilities and instincts, but is also strong enough to hold his ground and play tough against the run. A well-rounded prospect, who has room to grow and mature into a top-tier physical specimen.
