Talked to a source who said Tuesday's closed practice - in shells (helmets and shoulder pads) - was spirited with guys flying around and doing some hitting.

Jerrod Heard was not in a black QB jersey Tuesday, but instead was wearing a burnt orange offense jersey as he continues to work at WR.

Heard WR Lorenzo Joe suffered an injury and was on crutches. Unclear if it was a minor injury or not. (UT on Wednesday confirmed Joe suffered a hamstring injury and will be out an "extended time." But I'm told Joe does not need surgery at this time.)

I'm told RB Chris Warren (hamstring) participated in at least some of practice - and was jumping rope like a boxer after practice.

I'm told QB Shane Buechele got most of the reps in team situations and continues to grow and mature.

Tyrone Swoopes is getting work in practice with the 18 Wheeler package.

On defense, heard Charles Omenihu was getting into the backfield and being disruptive - something he also showed in the open practices over the weekend.

Also heard freshman WR Collin Johnson was one of the last players to leave Tuesday's practice - after doing a bunch of running on his own. The work ethic of Collin and older brother - RB Kirk Johnson - is quickly becoming the talk among coaches and players.

Apparently, to help preserve players' legs - part of Tuesday's practice was held inside the bubble at Denius Fields.
