UT has confirmed it to HD.
After completing some needed course work, 4-star OLB Erick Fowler has been academically certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse for enrollment at Texas, UT officials confirmed to HornsDigest.com.
Fowler, a Manor product who decommitted from LSU and signed with Texas on National Signing Day, had been giving indications on social media he would be joining the Longhorns soon.
On Monday, Fowler's dad tweeted that Erick had been cleared.
Erick, whose skil set is versatile enough to play all three LB positions as well as DE, will need time to get into football game shape.
But he may not need as much time as most.
Texas has depth at DE in camp right now, but is very thin at LB - with just six scholarship linebackers - Malik Jefferson, Anthony Wheeler, Tim Cole, Ed Freeman, Cam Townsend and Jeffrey McCullough.
So Fowler could very well start off at one of the three LB positions when he hits the practice field.
