2018 DB Dayven Coleman will visit as Texas takes on Notre Dame

As Charlie Strong prepares for his home opener, he also prepares for numerous recruits as dozens of top prospects from 2017 and 2018 will make unofficial visits to Austin this weekend.

Mesquite (Texas) West Mesquite 2018 three-star Dayven Coleman checks in at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds with an interest in Iowa State, Michigan, SMU, USC and Texas.  The standout safety will visit this weekend as Texas will host Notre Dame on Sunday night.

“I love the coaches there,” Dayven Coleman said.  “They want to win, and they have a really good vibe with the players.  I am going to the game with Jarell Cherry, Damarcus Crocket and my mentor Joey Moss.  I just want to see UT get after it and hopefully beat ND because they have the players to do it.  I feel if they beat ND it will put them on the map big time.”

My Take

Coleman is very athletic and has good speed.  He loves contact and reads and reacts quickly while attacking the ball carrier.  Coleman has quick feet and a nice back pedal.  He has good size for a cornerback at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds and breaks on the ball.

“I’m a big physical corner that can run and can play in any coverage,” Coleman said.  “I think at the next level I will be a strong safety because I can hit.”
