JIMMY FALLON MONOLOGUE MENTIONS SHANE BUECHELE'S 'QB SNEAK'

In case you missed it - or missed Jimmy Fallon's monologue Tuesday night - Texas freshman QB Shane Buechele was born despite his father, Steve, having had a vasectomy.

Shane said this week: "I didn't expect that to get out like that. It's crazy."

Shane  became the first freshman QB to start a season opener at Texas since Bobby Layne in 1944 in UT's 50-47 2OT win over Notre Dame Sunday in which Buechele threw for 280 yards and two TDs (with one INT) while rushing for 33 yards and a TD.

"I'm not embarrassed about it. My dad might be. I don't know," Shane said smiling about the circumstances surrounding his birth.

His dad is former Texas Rangers infielder and current Rangers' bench coach Steve Buechele, who went in for a  vasectomy after he and wife Nancy's fourth child - daughter Amber.

But six months after Amber's birth, Nancy started feeling pregnancy symptoms and learned a fifth child was on the way.

As Fallon said - it Shane Buechele's first QB sneak.

"I don't know what you'd call that," Shane said. "But I'm just excited to be here."

The Dallas Morning News - Shane's hometown paper  - wrote in detail about it last month:
