On hand, numerous top tier recruits from 2017/2018 were caught up in the atmosphere and emotion of the thrilling double overtime victory.  Enter Kobe Boyce, a 6-foot, 165-pound cornerback from Lake Dallas (Texas) The three-star Texas commitment made an unofficial visit to watch his future teammates in action.

“The atmosphere in Austin was electric,” Kobe Boyce said.  “It stayed that way the moment I got there till the moment I left seeing them warm up and the crowd storming in was just crazy.  I hung out with all the commits mainly Josh [Thompson], Sam [Ehlinger], Damion [Miller], and Xavier [Newman] I know they had a great time even the other recruits that weren't committed loved the game.”

The double overtime victory improved Texas to 103-18-3 all-time in season openers.  More importantly, it left a long lasting impression for everyone in attendance including Thompson.

“My thoughts after the game was over was wow,” Thompson said. “I knew they had been talking about this game for a while, and I know Charlie needed this win. and that's a crazy feeling honestly knowing 100,000 + fans are going to be watching you play, it's great.”

Scout.com Take

Boyce is a cornerback who has good size at the position and will only look more impressive as he adds some weight but has the height to match-up with the opposing team's No. 1 outside receiver. He is a strong talent against the run and will come up and secure the edge. Again, that will be an even bigger strength as he adds natural size and power with natural development. He played a huge role in his team's on the field success in 2015, as he locked down one-half of the field and teams rarely want to pass or run on the side he lines up on.
