Defensive back Garrison Vaughn checks in at 6-foot-1, 183-pounds with interest from Tulsa Golden Hurricane, SMU Mustangs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Texas Longhorns to name a few. The 2018 standout safety is enjoying the recruiting process.
“Recruiting has been interesting so far,” Garrison Vaughn said. “I’ve learned from my QB as much as possible about how to handle the whole process, but I’ve enjoyed the whole thing.”
Tulsa has shown the most interest in the defensive back to date.
“Tulsa has obviously been constant,” Vaughn said. “I have contact with Notre Dame at least weekly! I get constant letters from some schools such as Texas, SMU, and others.”
Belton is sitting at 3-2 on the season with a lot of football left to play.
“The season has been great so far from an all-around view,” Vaughn said. “We are 3-2 with a tough first district loss. Our defense has had great moments and low moments same with the offense, but all around team effort has been great! I feel like I've tackled pretty well in open space but there is still room for improvement, while I think my man coverage has been spot on. I do need to work on focusing on my responsibility when in a zone.”
Vaughn was not able to visit Texas earlier this season but hopes to make it to Austin soon.
“Earlier this year I sadly missed an opportunity to visit Texas,” Vaughn said. I am hoping to schedule one down the road, but I will be in Tulsa on October 22 and am very excited about that!”
