“The first thing I did when I got there is played a game with my friend and I talked to Coach [Clay] Jennings and Coach [Vance] Bedford and they told me they couldn't wait to get me up there,” Josh Thompson said.
Is there a storm brewing in Austin (Texas)? Josh Thompson certainly thinks so.
“Through the crowd, I saw how they were very confident in the players which is a difference,” Thompson said. “The offense had a really good game towards the second half. I feel like everyone got back on the same track and overall the game was great. I liked how the defense played by getting stops back to back; it was nice watching them. I feel like there is a storm brewing in Austin and now everyone is about to wake up.”
Josh Thompson is the type of defensive back who potentially play cornerback or safety at the high-major level. Good size with the space to add more bulk once he's in college. Well-built prospect with a good combination of size and athleticism. Laser-timed at 4.48 in the 40, as well as a 4.22 shuttle. He's shown excellent straight-line speed as well as good lateral quickness and hip turn. Physical player who can fight through receivers' perimeter blocks vs. the run. Type of player who could become a dangerous blitzer if used that way. Always around the ball and possesses the ability to chase down receivers in coverage if beaten off the line. Thompson can provide the big hit, but occasionally sacrifices tackling technique to do so. He's been recruited as a cornerback and a safety and could fit either position as needed, as well as the nickel. - Gabe Brooks
