2018 WR Kalon Barnes Talks Texas and More

2018 Wide Receiver Kalon Barnes is one to watch moving forward. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound playmaker checks in from Silsbee (Texas)

The Silsbee high school standout holds offers from Missouri Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Tech Red Raiders and UCLA Bruins.

“I learned that a lot of schools show interest when they want you to come play for them, but when they want you they'll offer you, and it's a good feeling to know that you are wanted,” Kalon Barnes said.

Washington, Kansas State Wildcats, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys and Notre Dame Fighting Irish are just a few of the schools showing Barnes interest.

“My team has come a long way since Week one,” Barnes said.  “We lost our first two games, but we started working harder at practice taking one day at a time, and we gained chemistry now we are fighting for a back to back District Championship. Me personally I have improved a lot since last year I haven't got the ball how I wanted, but I'm blocking improved BIG TIME.”

Barnes will be visiting Austin this weekend as Texas will host Baylor Bears.

What does Barnes think about Texas and Charlie Strong?

“I don't have a take on it,” Barnes said. “I like Texas and Coach Strong he's a good coach and all the players I talked to that play under him Love Him.  I met Coach Strong last year when he was here in Silsbee visiting Big Pat (Patrick Hudson) we took a picture.  I thought I was the man.  I attended the Texas v. Notre Dame game.  It was amazing to experience the next level when I first got there it was a couple of coaches waiting on me at the front and made me feel like I was really at home and I felt welcomed.  “We sat and ate watched pre-game warmups from the sideline. I love Texas fans they are really into the game.”
