2018 offensive tackle prospect Payne He’Bert holds offers from Kansas State Wildcats and Fresno State Bulldogs. He has interest from Houston Cougars, Rice Owls, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas State Bobcats, and SMU Mustangs. Saturday afternoon he watched first hand as Texas knocked off Baylor Bears. He’Bert checks in from Pearland (Texas) Glenda Dawson.
“The atmosphere was intense,” Payne He’Bert said. “The firing of the cannon was a cool and dramatic effect. I liked how it made the atmosphere positive and electric. The stadium was a sea of burnt orange and full of pride. People were on the edge of their seats the whole game. I now know why it is better to attend a college football game in person than watch it on TV. The people I spoke with were kind and informative. It seemed as if everyone was on the same page. They were all consistent with what they were saying about the school and football team. I got a good feel of what it was like to be a Longhorn.”
Even though he is only a junior, He’Bert is a leader on his team.
“Our season is going well we are 7-2,” He’Bert said. “We are all constantly trying to be the best we can be. Like all teams, we have things to work on. Personally, I try hard to be a leader on and off the field. This season has been big for me because it's my junior year. Junior year is full of opportunities, and it is the time students start thinking about college. I've done a great job.”
