"I was really happy and so I just went ahead and did it," said the prep who clocked a 4.35 at the both the Nike camp and Texas' summer camp. "The academics, the storied tradition of the program and the facilities had a lot to do with me committing to UT."
So what's going on now at the beginning of his senior season?
Taylor, though, said he's very solid in his commitment to Texas and that he's been focusing on the upcoming season.
"Our first game is against Bastrop...we'll play that game September 5th," Taylor said. "But we did scrimmage against Corsicana the other day."
Dean: How did that go?
Taylor: Oh, we put them on shut down. We took care of them pretty easily. I think they had 25 carries for 41 yards against our defense. (William) "Willie" Bell was a monster out there as was the rest of our defense.
Dean: So how did you do?
Taylor: I played running back and corner. I had 6 carries for 90 yards and caught a screen pass I took 62 yards for a score. On defense I had a 64-yard INT return for a TD."
Looks like Texas got a good one and Belton has a couple of difference-makers on this year's football team as they look to compete in one of the toughest 5A districts in Texas high school football.
