In one of the strangest game settings I've been in - we are 17 minutes to kickoff and the stadium is 70 percent empty.
The Longhorns have to win in "convincing" fashion on Senior Day for Texas coach Charlie Strong to be back in 2017, a high-level source at UT told HD.
So, what is convincing? Your guess is as good as mine. I was basically told it's a you-know-it-when-you-see-it type of situation.
Here's the latest on the Tom Herman front (his team is trailing Memphis 34-30 with 10 mins left to play):
Oregon is very much in the picture - in addition to LSU. It appears Herman would choose Texas over LSU and Oregon. But no UT forces have been mobilized to meet with Herman's agent Trace Armstrong - and won't be - until after the TCU game, I'm told.
Look for Mike Perrin to now become the face of the coaching search. It was almost as if chancellor William McRaven and president Greg Fenves looked at each other and decided they can't get blamed for any of the apparent mess occurring.
For now, it's about the next 3.5 hours of football. You all know my horrible nicknames, so I've jokingly called it "JUDGMENT DAY ... TCU vs the future of Texas football."
