Ranked as the No 5 safety prospect in America for 2018, Atanza Vongor is one of the most heavily recruited players in the country. The Four-star standout is e expecting big things from Texas head coach Tom Herman. Vongor does not know when he will visit Texas again, but they are on the radar.
“Awesome! Big things in the future for Texas,” Atanza Vongor said. “Coach Herman did big things at Houston; I don't expect that to change. Yes, I'll still be giving Texas a look.”
His season was cut short with an opening round loss in the playoffs this season but will continue to work on his game throughout the offseason.
“The season went well,” Vongor said. “I just thank God for allowing me to play another one. Unfortunately, we lost in the first round. I want to improve on speed getting to the ball, my technique and just be able to compete for a state championship next year.”
As a sophomore, Vongor played extensively on both sides of the ball, moving around on offense while playing in the secondary on defense. He finished with 431 yards of offense and accounted for five touchdowns. Vongor ran for 289 yards and four touchdowns on 5.8 yards per carry while completing 4 of 10 passes for 124 yards and one touchdown.
