The 6-foot-1, 225-pound ILB Gary Johnson brought the Texas Longhorns some good news to start a big, official visit weekend that includes 5-star DE/OLB K'Lavon Chaisson of Galena Park North Shore, who says he's down to Texas and LSU.
Getting Johnson's verbal commitment as Chaisson was getting to town Friday afternoon was excellent timing for Herman, who, like every head coach, can use a splash commitment less than two weeks out from national signing day (Feb. 1).
Johnson took an official visit to Texas last weekend, and the visit made an impact on the talented linebacker. Johnson is commitment No. 15 for the Longhorns' 2017 recruiting class.
