TEXAS FALLS AT OU - NOW 0-12 AWAY FROM HOME

Here's HD's CHIP BROWN on Shaka Smart's Texas Longhorns squandering a lead they held for nearly 30 minutes at Oklahoma in a 70-66 loss, falling to 10-16 and 0-12 away from Austin ...

In front of a three-quarters empty Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, the Longhorns led an OU team with 2 conference wins - missing its best player Jordan Woodard for the rest of the season - for nearly 30 minutes, then gave up a 10-1 run, culminating with 2:04 to play, and lost a game, 70-66, Texas never should've lost.

Disappointing that Shaka Smart continues to undervalue senior big man Shaq Cleare (5-7 FG, 10 points), the team's No. 3 scoring option, who played just 20 minutes Tuesday night.

Cleare took just two shots in the second half (1-2 FG). When the rest of the team is going 10-of-30 FG (33.3 percent) in the second half, it's astounding Cleare only got two FG attempts.

Andrew Jones really struggled with turnovers at OU. Five of his six turnovers came in the first half. Jones' shot abandoned him in the second half (2-8 FG, 0-2 3PT) ... when Shaq Cleare couldn't get a pass into the post from teammates.

Longhorns shot just 34.4 percent in the second half (11 of 32 FG), including 0-5 from 3PT. For some godforsaken reason, this team, one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in all of college basketball, continues to jack up 3s when games are in the balance. In a loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday, Texas was 4-of-23 from 3.

The Horns finished 3-11 from 3PT-range in Tuesday's loss at OU.

Freshman big man and No. 1 scoring option Jarrett Allen had a double-double for Texas (17 points, 10 rebounds). But Allen was just 1-8 from the FT line after going 0-7 from the FT line in a loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday. That's 1-of-15 from the foul line UT's past two games.

Texas lost the game from the FT line - going just 5-of-12 from the foul line in the second half of a 70-66 game.

The anatomy of leading a game for nearly 30 minutes and then giving up a 10-1 run with 2:04 left to fall behind by 8:

(Texas held a 56-55 lead with 5:35 left to play ...)

* Missed jumper by Jones

(3-pointer by OU puts Sooners up 58-56 with 4:31 left)

* 1 of 2 FTs by Roach cuts OU's lead to 58-57 with 4:15 left

* Missed layup by Roach

(2 FTs by OU puts Sooners up 60-57 with 3:55 left)

* Missed jumper by Jarrett Allen

* Missed layup by A Jones

(3-pointer by OU puts Sooners up 63-57 with 2:55 left)

* Turnover by Eric Davis

(OU jumper puts Sooners up 65-57 with 2:04 left ... capping a 10-1 run)

Texas never recovered.

Right now, it looks like Texas and Oklahoma are the only two teams in the Big 12 who have definitely been eliminated from the NCAA Tournament ... from the NIT ... and probably from the CBI ...

Texas fans need to turn their attention to the women's basketball team, which is well-coached and getting better and more confident - seemingly by the day.
