SCOUT'S NO 2 TE IN 2018 READY FOR UT JR DAY

Four-Star TE Mustafa Muhammad - Scout's No. 2 TE and No. 38 overall 2018 prospect - who is planning to attend Texas' Junior Day on Saturday says UT “sits well with me.”

As Muhammad preps for his visit to Texas for Junior Day on Saturday, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end told HD he likes Tom Herman’s passion.

The Ridge Point HS (Missouri City, TX) product enjoyed attending University of Houston practices during Herman’s time coaching the Cougars.

Muhammad holds offers from Texas, Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Baylor among plenty of other Power Five programs.

“I think UT sits well with me. We'll see how my visit goes this weekend,” Muhammad said.

“I like Herman's enthusiasm, energy, and passion for the game. I got a chance to watch how he conducts his practices when he was still at U of H, and it was a great experience,” Muhammad said.

Texas TE coach Corby Meekins has been the one contacting and visiting Muhammad the most from UT.

“I like Coach Meekins coaching style as well," Muhammad said. "He's about business and gets what he wants done. I like how Meekins visits me at school every so often.”

“Coach Meekins and Herman talk to me the most. The coaches recruiting me do a great job of staying in touch."

Muhammad told HD proximity is important to him when selecting a school.

“I like UT because it's not far at all from home and has a very solid fan base and boosters,” Muhammad said.

As far as how he'd describe his game, Muhammad said:

“I feel like I'm a versatile threat in the pass game as a receiver and the run game as a blocker. My personality on the field amongst my teammates is a focused leader who loves to win.

“For fun I like to workout, sleep, hangout with friends, eat, play video games and just do teenager stuff. But at school and away from football I am pretty laid back."

Recruiting hasn't worn him down yet.

“I think the recruiting process is a blessing that I can't take for granted, because not everyone gets to experience it and it only happens once in a lifetime,” Muhammad said.
