Four-Star OL Rafiti Ghirmai breaks down Texas JR Day

Frisco (Texas) Wakeland four-star offensive tackle Rafiti Ghirmai visited Austin with his mother for the Texas Junior day and walked away impressed.

Head coach Tom Herman and the rest of the Texas coaching staff hosted their first junior day with the Texas Longhorns yesterday, and Rafiti Ghirmai enjoyed himself.

“My mom and my friend Peyton Reinertsen went with me,” Rafiti Ghirmai said.  “First thing we did was go look at their hall of fame and famous players that went pro. I got to talk with Coach Warehime of course, and I got to sit down and talk with Coach Herman and his wife. They just asked about our personal lives and created conversation. He showed me his accomplishments with his rings. Very nice guy.”

Ghirmai was one of the dozens of top-flight players who visited for the Saturday portion.

“The recruits had a good vibe going with them,” Ghirmai said. “I didn't personally hang out with one, but I got to hang with the players, and they seem really fun and cool. Texas stands highly because it's not that far and it's a really nice school academically and football-wise.”
