OL John Lanz Goes In-Depth About his trip to Texas for Junior Day

Standout 2018 offensive tackle made an unofficial visit to Texas on Saturday for junior day. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound tackle checks in from Denton (Texas) Guyer High School.

Three-star offensive tackle John Lanz checks in from Denton (Texas) Guyer High School.  He currently holds offers from Baylor, TCU, Tulsa and UCF.  He hopes to add a Texas offer sometime in the Spring.

“My overall experience was great,” John Lanz said. “Could really tell the winning attitude they are building at Texas. When we arrived we checked in and went on a tour with Connor Williams and Jean Delance of the athletic facility. They did a great job of informing me of the day-to-day life of a student-athlete at UT.”

Lanz was able to spend a lot of time with his potential position coach.

“I got to spend a lot of quality time with coach (Derek) Warehime,” Lanz said. “He took my mom, dad, brother and I on an individual tour of all the upgrades and changes they will be making soon to the facilities.

"Coach Warehime also discussed the positive meaning behind "Revolution18" and the team atmosphere Coach Herman and the entire staff are trying to instill.

"I also met coach (Yancy) McKnight, Coach (Todd) Orlando, Coach (Drew) Mehringer, and Coach (Jason) Washington.  The vibe was great.

"It looked like everyone was really enjoying the time out in the stadium yesterday.  Texas is a school that I am still definitely interested in,” Lanz said.

“My parents and I haven't had a chance to talk in depth about the visit since I got home last night, but we do like the strong athletics and academics Texas provides. It looks like they have a great plan.”
