Four-Star quarterback Tanner McKee holds offers from Alabama Crimson Tide, Boise State Broncos, BYU Cougars, Georgia Bulldogs, Houston Cougars, Louisville Cardinals, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Texas Longhorns to name a few. The No 5 ranked QB in California goes in-depth about the recruiting process and more.
“I think my strengths are my accuracy and decision making,” Tanner McKee said. “You can always work on making better reads, so I will focus on doing that and building chemistry with my receivers. The recruiting process has been really fun. I've enjoyed getting to know different coaches and programs. I'm a little surprised at how busy it is. Trips, doing interviews, answering questions, calling coaches. I had a pretty crazy schedule before all of this with the classes I'm taking and playing multiple sports. Had to learn how to prioritize and use time wisely. Looking forward to narrowing the list down to schools where I can really picture myself playing. I talk to Coach Herman and Coach Beck a lot. Almost every day. We talk about the school, how I would fit in there, and the things they want to accomplish as coaches. Planning to visit the first weekend of May. Excited to meet the coaches in person and see what it feels like there. See if it is a place I can imagine myself being.”
Big time programs will battle it out for McKee. He and his family will take multiple trips during Spring Break.
“I talk to a lot of schools regularly,” McKee said. “North Carolina, Florida State, Stanford, Alabama, UCLA, BYU, Missouri, Georgia and Texas. Probably forgetting some. In two weeks I have spring break. I am going to BYU' s spring game. Then heading down south to visit Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Duke. Then going down to visit Texas May 6th. I will go to practice or two at UCLA in April as well.”
McKee breaks down his game and what he would be doing on Friday nights if he wasn’t playing football.
“Hanging out with my family and friends,” McKee said. “Love playing ping pong and board games. Tough question. I guess something like; he is calm; never gets too high or too low, makes good decisions, is accurate with his throws, has good touch on his passes, and is more athletic than you think.”
