Three-Star OG John Lanz Visits Texas

Offensive guard John Lanz made an unofficial visit to check out the University of Texas this past weekend. He is from Denton (Texas) Guyer high school and is a three-star prospect standing 6-foot-4, 280-pounds.

“My overall visit went well,” John Lanz said. “I was able to sit in on o-line meetings, talk to current o-line players, and spend quite a bit of time getting to know 2017 O-line commits. I have a good relationship with Coach Warehime and was able to spend time with him, as well as talk to coach Beck as well. All the coaches are personable and approachable.”

Lanz holds offers from Baylor Bears, Colorado Buffaloes, TCU Horned Frogs, Tulsa Golden Hurricane, Colorado State Rams and has enjoyed the process to date.

“It's been great,” Lanz said. “It's given me an opportunity to observe and learn what the coaches are fostering and working towards.  My parents like the coaching staff and the overall university. They currently are focusing on making sure I gather and take in as much information as I can on the program, university, and city while I continue to build relationships with the coaches.”

What will the Lanz family base their decision on?

“I am looking for a high level of education, and a strong and competitive football program that has great coaches that stress team unity/family atmosphere,” Lanz said.

Lanz is enjoying the process and is not in a hurry to make a decision.

“I currently have no concrete timetable,” Lanz said. “I continue to work through the process with my parents and Coach Walsh's guidance. They have and continue to stress that I need to be thorough in my decision-making process, and to focus my decision on the "overall university.”
