Four-Star OLB Alston Orji Talks Texas & More

Outside linebacker Alston Orji is one of the most heavily recruited players in the class of 2018. The Rockwall (Texas) standout checks in at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds and is a four-star prospect.

Why should top programs recruit Alston Orji?

“I show promise not only athletically but academically,” Alston Orji said. “College coaches can count on me to work hard in the classroom as well as on the field.”

Orji holds numerous offers such as Arkansas Razorbacks, Baylor Bears, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Texas Longhorns and is drawing lots of attention from schools down South. He is also looking forward to improving his game over the Summer.

“Most schools in the south show a lot of love,” Orji said. “It's not really a measurable thing.  I'm doing a summer program and 7on7 with my school to help with my game and my confidence in my on-field play.”

In early March, Orji and his family made an unofficial visit to check out the University of Texas.

“I visited March 4th with my brother and our family,” Orji said. “I met up with coaches and started a tour of academic facilities they really impressed with the way they set up their academic facilities and the proximity to the dorms and coaches office.  I didn't get to meet Herman but heard a lot about him. I spent the most time with Coach Orlando, and he was a great guy to learn a lot from in the time I was there.”
