It was another BIG day for the defense on Saturday.
Heard the score was like 44-12 in favor of the defense.
It was so lopsided, and Tom Herman was so upset afterward, he made the offensive coaches run gassers after the scrimmage along with the offensive players.
Malcolm Roach continues to get into the backfield to disrupt things. He had three tackles behind the line in last week's scrimmage, and it sounded like a similar scrimmage on Saturday.
Breckyn Hager made a big play for a TFL in goal-line work by stuffing a run.
But the play of the day on defense might've come from third-team DL Chris Daniels, who knifed through the line and literally intercepted an attempted handoff by Shane Buechele and took off running the other direction with the ball.
Both Shane Buechele and Sam Ehlinger threw interceptions on the day.
But Ehlinger made quite a few plays with his feet. The whistle was blown as soon as a defensive player touched him, but Ehlinger still would've made big yards running, because it sounds like defenders didn't always have the angle on him when they touched him.
Running back play is obviously limited with Kyle Porter as the only healthy back right now.
There were some plays made in the passing game. Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay were singled out for the right reasons. Reggie Hemphill and Davion Curtis were singled out for the wrong reasons (drops, etc).
On defense, field safety DeShon Elliott had a big day, including an interception, as well as strong run support.
Safeties coach Craig Naivar seemed to back that up on Twitter:
The team practices again on Tuesday.
