Recruiting: NMSU Game Visitor Greg Dolan

Greg Dolan, the state's second-ranked ('04) OL prospect and a Texas verbal commitment, was available for a few questions when Inside Texas caught up with him recently. Dolan attended the 66-7 shellacking Texas put on NMSU and his thoughts on that game are below...

"Well in the first quarter, Texas definitely had some adversity," Dolan said in his best sportscaster voice, "but you know, who doesn't the first game of the season?

"After New Mexico State scored, the Longhorns decided to show everybody what they could do."

While the 6-6.5, 265-pound OT observed the season-opener, he had to endure a little bit of Mother Nature...

"I didn't have raincoat or anything like that," Dolan said, "so I got wet, but it was okay. We (Dolan, Westwood teammate Trey Grimes, Derek Lokey and Myron Hardy) were having fun..."

The Texas Angels may have had something to do with that...

"Oh, yeah," Dolan gleefully revealed. "We were hangin' out with the Angels quite a bit."

What did Dolan, who we'll do a film evaluation on later this week, think about the Texas offensive line after seeing Benson and Co. struggle to find much room to operate.

"I think they (Texas O-line) did pretty good," said the Texas Top 100's No. 21-ranked prospect. "They were shuttling in a lot of guys -- trying to find a rotation, so you're going to have some problems."

Anyone stand out?

"Selvin Young...holy crap...that guy's good," Dolan said. "And Vince Young looked real good."

When Dolan cracks the rotation, those two Longhorns may still be on the Forty Acres and that fact is not lost on the Westwood Big Ugly, especially the thought of playing with VY...

"I was really happy to see VY playing because he'll be the guy I'll be blocking for," said the 4-star blue-chipper. "I'll redshirt when Mock's in his senior season, so he'll be gone. So, glad to see VY getting some experience already and he's going to be really good."
