Four-Star OLB Byron Hobbs Breaks down joining the Longhorns and his game.

Texas filled a big need last week as outside linebacker Byron Hobbs declared his intentions to join the Longhorn Nation. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound four-star joins Justin Watkins as the second verbal commitment for Texas in the 2018 class.

The Texas Longhorns landed a big-time commitment for the class of 2018 last week as Outside linebacker Byron Hobbs made his intentions known to the world.  I had a chance to catch up with the four-star backer about his decision.

Q & A with Byron Hobbs:

Jason Higdon:  Talk about what it feels like to join the Longhorn Nation? What this moment means to not only you but mom and dad?

Byron Hobbs:  I am excited, Texas is not just tossing out offers, so for them to see something special in me it means a lot. My mom and dad feel the same, just happy we can focus on getting me ready for my senior year and the next level.

JH:  What was it about Texas that ultimately lead to this decision for you and your family?

BH:  Coach Orlando and Coach Herman and the staff have all been in communication with my parents and me. When I visited, the energy was high, and I feel as though they are rebuilding and I want to be a part of that. They have talked about where they will use me, and that is where I love to play, And the network and alumni are LIT!

JH:  What message would you give the Texas fans about the players that will be in the Texas class this cycle.

BH:  Be patient and believe in us, trust the process.

JH:  Talk about strengths of your game and what you do best and how Texas plans to put you in a position to make plays.

BH:  I love to disrupt plays, attack the QB, that's what I do. I have the length and endurance to catch defenders out in space, as of right now they plan on using me as an attack style LB.

JH:  What are your goals between now and the time you arrive at Texas and do you plan to be an early enrollee.

BH:  My first goal is to put on some weight before I check into 40 acres. Work on my quick twitch and drop pass coverage. I would like to enroll early, but that depends on the classes available during the summer that I can take.
