Wednesday is the beginning of the spring signing period for college hoops, and the only committed Texas recruit (SG Jase Febres, PF Royce Hamm, PF Jericho Sims) who didn't sign a letter of intent in the fall signing period in November was 4-star point guard Matt Coleman.
That sigh of relief you just heard was Shaka Smart after Coleman's LOI arrived in Austin this morning!
Now, Shaka can try to sell some hope after that 11-22 season in which seemingly everyone lamented the lack of a point guard (or lack of development of a point guard). And now Andrew Jones is in the NBA Draft without an agent. But, hey, today is about Coleman!
Meanwhile, 5-star C Mo Bamba, whose final four is Kentucky, Texas, Duke and Michigan, told Jeff Borzello of ESPN he's got no timeline to sign with a school now that spring signing period has begun ...
This could be the Jarrett Allen recruitment all over again! Allen, a 5-star from Austin St. Stephen's who announced Tuesday he'll stay in the NBA Draft and hire an agent, didn't commit to Texas until June of last year.
