Frisco (Texas) Wakeland is home to 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive tackle Rafiti Ghirmai. Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, TCU Horned Frogs and the Texas Longhorns are just a few of the teams that have offered at this time.
Ghirmai and a friend made a trip to the University of Texas this past weekend as the Longhorns closed out Spring practice.
“Me and my friend Parker went there together,” Rafiti Ghirmai said. “We met the coaches and talked to the strength Coach and talked to some Texas players. Coaches were ecstatic to see me and kept on saying that this was the year they're going big. I like the new facilities including the new lockers. Favorite part was, of course, watching the spring game.”
Rafiti Ghirmai is a top-tier offensive line prospect in the state of Texas' 2018 recruiting class. He possesses an adequate frame for the tackle spot at the Power Five conference level. He's fairly athletic relative to his position and has a big reach that should give him a high ceiling as a pass-blocker. Ghirmai could potentially prove position-versatile at the next level as well. He can play a bit high at times, and his hand placement lacks consistency, but all the physical tools are there for Ghirmai, who thrives in the run game and owns the requisite traits to become a well-rounded high-major O-lineman. - Gabe Brooks
