Four-Star RB Asa Martin Breaks down his game and Texas Offer

The Texas Longhorns pull the trigger on another out of state offer. This time, 6-foot, 194-pound Asa Martin is the recipient from Decatur (AL) Austin High School. The Four-star running back is one of the most heavily recruited players in the Southeast.

Four-star running back Asa Martin holds offers from over a dozen major programs, and the Texas Longhorns have joined the list.  He is the No 209 ranked prospect in the class of 2018; No 14 ranked RB, No 9 ranked RB in the Southeast and No 1 in the state of Alabama.

“I don't know too much about Texas," Martin said.  "I know how much the state as a whole loves football, UT has a big tradition, and with coach Herman coming in 1st year I saw what he did in Houston so I really really like it, not sure when I'll visit but I am going to eventually,” Asa Martin said.

Martin breaks down his game.

“Strengths of my game is my vision, understanding of the game, blocking schemes and protections, stuff like that and my hands,” Martin said. “I rarely drop any passes, I think I need to work on my speed I want to be faster, teams recruiting me the hardest are Florida and Auburn and a couple of others I talk to a lot.” Take

Martin is a slippery ball carrier that shows impressive cutback ability and foot quickness while navigating through traffic en route to the end zone. He's an instinctive runner that's patient to wait for his blocks to set up but can continue to work on his acceleration to break off some of those game-changing plays. Martin isn't the biggest running back across the map, but plays bigger than his size and has no problem putting his shoulder down. This is a crafty runner that can do a lot of things on the football field, but he's a high-character young man as well.
